You may have heard a couple of stories about a crazy, ridicules abusive mom, but do you know everything? Amy Chua is her name and she has her own game. But her rules are a bit different from the normal western mom’s. Chua basically accuses American mother’s saying their lazy and their kids are not successful. In this reason paper I will examine Chua’s parenting style, as well as other critics of it and then I will add my own opinion to ,the mix towards the end. Western mom’s have very different parenting skills compared to Chinese moms. “Western parents try to respect their children’s individuality, encouraging them to pursue their true passions, supporting their choices”. Which I believe is true because my parents would never make me do anything I wouldn’t want to do. Chinese parents are known to be very strict. In my opinion I think they are be too hard, yes they are making their kids be super good at everything but they should have a choice if they want to or not. “It’s not that Chinese parents don’t care about their children, just the opposite. They would give anything up for their children. It’s just an entirely different parenting method. Throughout the article “Amy Chua is a wimp, written by David Brooks”, he is saying that Amy Chua is a strict mother who takes it too far. She totally embarrasses the American mom’s by saying “American parents lack authority and produce entitled children who aren’t forced to live up to their abilities”. The American moms have successful children maybe just not all of them choose to be academically successful. American mom let their children go to parties and have friends over, Chua does not allow any of that. Getting bullied is better than not getting any attention at all. If her kids could go to the cafeteria instead of staying in the library that’s even better than what she is doing now. Throughout the article “In defense of the guilty, ambivalent, preoccupied western mom”, written by Ayelet Waldman. The mom lets her kids have fun and lets then do activities other than the piano and violin. As long as they don’t take advantage of her, she will not drive more than 10 minutes to go get her kids. The western mom knows what her kids need to succeed and she gives the no more but no less, “Amy Chua and I both understand that our job as mothers is to be the type of tigress that each of our different cubs need”. Also through this article the western mom lets her kids lead the way to their own success. She had to be there for them, but didn’t over do it. She also made sure that she let then have fun if they earned it. Like when her daughter learned how to read by herself, her mom thought that was the best way for her to learn. Throughout the article “mother inferior, written by Hanna Rosin”, Hanna Rosin talks about the Amy Chua case and tells us how she isn’t that type of parent. She also tells us that her kids have freedom and she isn’t going to stop letting them so things they don’t want to do. “What privileged American children need is not more to lighten up and roam free, to express themselves in ways not dictated by their up tight, overinvested parents”. This article “An Asian Fathers gift: Permission to fail, written by Llyon Woo”, talks about how parents could never care too much. Parents aren’t the only one who make an impact on your life throughout school you become very close with some of your life lessons or they can always just good ears for listening. Or with this story your teachers could take stuff like “Have two glasses of wine and call me in the morning, he would say to get attention and laughter from the class”. So some of the best support could be from home or school, but always from friends you need friends. I agree to Amy Chua’s parenting skills because I think it is good to push your kids and they do need to respect your kids and they do need to respect you. Also same kids might still be clueless on what they want so it’s up to their parents. When they do get old enough some kids do make mistakes, and she was smart on choosing for them. She programs in their head that they are successful and so they will get into a good college. On the other hand she is basically abusing her daughter’s by not letting them go to the restroom until they play the piano perfect. Or they aren’t allowed to play the drums because that is the instrument that most uses drugs. Amy Chua isn’t a good mom; she is ridicules and shouldn’t be able to have her kids at her house. We have talked so much about Amy Chua and I’m tired of hearing her name. The American mom’s are tired of her too, she accused American moms for no reason. As of my opinion Amy Chua is a crazy, ridicules, and abusive mom if I may say. Other’s may say is a great mom and they follow her parenting skills, and now you know everything. Cheating With my honest opinion I think there are times when shorts cuts or cheating is okay. Such as like in a car race you drive around the mountain instead of over it. But you can cheat without doing that, you can cheat by the speed of your car.
I do not think anyone should use steroids because if famous people do it then why can’t we do it. I know that I look up to some famous people and athletes. Even in school almost everyone cheats, and surprisingly most teachers don’t care. I have seen many people cheat in many different ways. People are being dishonest yes but that’s what have to do now if you want to pass. If you cheat on your girlfriend/boyfriend yes its bad, but sometimes if you’re not thinking or if she’s not there who will find out. Many people see cheating in that way, and yes it is very wrong but everyone does it. Teachers finding out about her class cheating, did she make a good/fair choice or should she have done something different. in my opinion she made a mistake so i think its good tat she quit.
This whole situation is right because i dont think should have failed everyone. If she noticed they cheated then it waas problably to hard and so she should have either helped them out more or givin them an easyer test.
I understand that some people may be to lazy and not do the work or they do the work and cheat, and so the people that really so the work and try hard dont get the best grade they could have gotten becausee of cheaters. but the teachers in all school's need to look at everyones prospective.
All in all I think that nobody will stop cheating because everyone does it! (school, buissness, taxes, marriage, sports, etc.) So in my opinion she made a mistake so i think its good that she quit. Dear Ventura County Star, You may have been asked simple questions before such as "Did you pass or fail? Did you win or loose? Did you create or distroy?" Thoughs questions have to do with failure, and throughout the essay i choose to show you how i feel and how iv been through some failure.
Alexander Fleming woke up one morning thinking it was an ordinary day. He was working in his lab trying to find a cure for rabies. During the year 1929 nobody really knew how to find a cure for anything. But as Alexander Fleming put his used equipment in the sink, not even thinking to clean them. So a while laater he looks at his used equipment and notices he made a mistake because there is now mold in his dishes. But he also noticed that the mold can kill bacteria which now is called Penicillin. Because his one mistake in 1929, we still to this day use Penicillin.
On October 25, I never ment to start, my friends got me into it. They thought they were having fun, until it got out of control. Parties, drinking and teens do not mix well. The first time i drank I thought it was so much fun. Me and my friend Jayla couldnt even imagine what waas coming next. Suddenly when the party came to a blur i knew I needed to stop drinking. Jayla and some others took me home, once I reached home Jayla got my mom and told her what has happened. At that moment I stoped breathing so my mom called 911. The scary thing is, is that I dont remember going to the hospital and have neddles being out in me. But without this expeirence i wouldnt have found out that im alergic to alcohol. Thinking about that experience makes me wonder how my life would be now. I much older now so i understand my choices better. Splashing and screaming all around me, whistles and girls shouting towards me. I swan all accross the pool with everyone chasing me. I had the ball going straight towards the goal. As i throw the ball into the goal i have noticed i have done something terrible, I made a goal in my teams goal. I was so embarresed and never thought i would play again. But once i got back into the water i never made a mistake like that agian, it taught a very imprtant lesson.

In the above quote, American anthropologist Margaret Meade seems to imply that "thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world" for the better. Some may know this day as one to remember others may never speak of it again. Four planes, thousands of people, everyone not knowing what will happen next. On September 11, 2001 an attack has occurred in the U.S. the information we know of that happened in the planes are from flight 93 from a couple of cell phone calls, many tragedies have occurred. They think they have no choice, they think they’re going to heaven. Terrorists destroyed our twin towers, they congress buildings to get by. The things terrorist did to the U.S. is unbelievable, it changed but also started our world. They started wars and did “their jobs” by terrorizing millions by only killing thousands. The last flight to crash, heading straight for Washington D.C. while being held captive is flight 93. Four terrorists took over flight 93 with about 40 passengers on board. Phone calls were being made to there is a bomb on bomb on the plane and that they have knife’s. About 3 guys, Todd Beamer, Mark Bingham, Jeremy Glick started making a group trying to get the plane back. Those three guys started a small group because they tried getting the plane back their plane crashed in a field not in D.C. My personal example of a small group making a change is when my cousin adopted two twin girls from South Africa. She got Savannah and Ivannah about two years ago and now they are almost 4 years old, this year they will be old enough to go to American pre-school. When she got them they were not healthy but luckily over the years they were cured! These girls will now live an ordinary American life. Good and bad is in everything it just depends on how you look at things. The terrorists did ruin buildings and kill people, but it made our country aware and closer of the things around us. As a result in our world, things happen for a reason like terrorists getting together, us stopping a crash in D.C. or my cousin getting to girls back to health and on to school. Margaret Meade states "thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world", This is how small groups of people can make a huge change. Medea
Divorce and break ups happen all the time in everyday society. Hitting or beating your kid not so much, well even killing your children without a reasonable explanation is NOT okay, even with a reason you still are very wrong! Throughout the play, Medea; by Euripides, a woman tries to get back at her husband and so she kills the only things he cares about which is their kids. My personal opinion is that I believe that nobody should lay a hand on their kids. Yet again this all happens because that Medea is a villain for killing her kids.
If Medea were a hero it would be for sticking up for her marriage. He broke a huge promise to her by not staying married until death do us part. Medea knows she can get away with revenge so why not take a chance. Jason did only divorce her for her looks and so he got a new young wife. Since she did kill her kids she was seen as a hero who go revenge fair and square.
But nobody should ever lay a hand on their kids! Just because a divorce occurs in someone’s life doesn’t mean you can go kill your children. Why should Medea be called a hero if she is a murderer, Medea is a crazy woman who should be put in jail. She poisoned Jason’s loved ones; if she truly loved her kids she wouldn’t have killed them.
Jason was wrong for divorcing her, he did make a promise but he should still be seen as a hero in the story. He has done nothing wrong, he didn’t poison anyone, he didn’t kill anyone, and he didn’t run away after everything happened like Medea did.
All in all, Medea and Jason’s story is very different from any other, but just because it is different doesn’t mean they should get special treatment. She killed her kids, he just broke a promise. Medea’s the villain and monster, Jason is the hero of the story.
